2005 LOLITA Merlot
TASTING NOTES: An exotic wine reflecting the concentrated mountain flavors of wild berries, dark cherries, rich vanilla, spicy sarsaparilla and nutmeg, with soft, creamy tannins.
VINEYARDS: The grapes are sourced from 3 different vineyards on Mt. Veeder:
Merlot: "Lola" block,14-year vine age, 600' elevation
Franc: Yates Family Vineyard, 25-year vine age, 1000' elevation
Cabernet Sauvignon: Wing Canyon,21-year vine age, 1000' elevation
FARMING: 100% sustainable agricultural practices
FERMENTATION: Small open top fermentors, punched 3 times per day, Yeast: Cepage merlot, Noble and Harmony, 18-day average fermentation, press off to barrel ( French and American oak), Inoculate for malo-lactic fermentation (viniflora oenos).
BLEND: 90% Merlot and 5% each Cabernet Ssauvignon and Cabernet Franc
BARREL TIME: 18 momths

LOLITA Merlot Wine Information
Our LOLITA merlot is the only wine we make using grapes from other Mt Veeder vineyards, in addition to a small percentage of our estate cabernet sauvignon. The wine is aged in American as well as French oak. The resulting wine is sexy and exotic, perfect with all sorts of food.
