Merlot:”Lola”block, 15-year vine age, 600’ elevation and Yates Family Vineyard, 1000’ elevation
Franc: WCV 21-year vine age,1000’ elevation
Cab: Wing Canyon, 21-year vine age, 1000’ elevation
Farming: 100% sustainable agricultural practices
Harvest Dates: Merlot/ Oct. 11 through Oct. 25, 2005
Cab/ Sept. 25 through Oct. 20, 2006
Fermentation: Small open fermenters, punch down 3 times per day,
Yeast: Cepage Merlot, Symphony
18-day average fermentation, press off to barrel,
Inoculate for malo-lactic fermentation ( viniflora oenos )
Alcohol: 14.7% by Volume
pH: 3.73
Barrels: Half 1-year old thin stave American oak (Minnesota) with Half older French Bordeaux Traditional
Barrel Time: 30 months
Blend: 87% Merlot
12% Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
1% Estate Cabernet Franc
Production: 204 cases
Tasting Notes: The wine has beautiful ruby-red color with aromas of ripe dark fruit (cherries, blackberries, plums) and spicy peaches. Notes of tarry licorice, root beer and sweet spices accompany soft and creamy tannins.
LOLITA Merlot Wine Information
Our LOLITA merlot is the only wine we make using grapes from other Mt Veeder vineyards, in addition to a small percentage of our estate cabernet sauvignon. The wine is aged in American as well as French oak. The resulting wine is sexy and exotic, perfect with all sorts of food.
